In the wild, it feeds on plankton, tiny crustaceans, and invertebrate larvae. In captivity, it readily accepts a variety of foods, from flakes and pellets to frozen and live food, making it relatively easy to care for. It feels safest in a group of several individuals, mimicking its natural schooling behavior and reducing stress.
Keeping Green Chromis in an aquarium is relatively simple as long as it has enough space and stable water conditions. A reef aquarium of at least 100 liters (26 gallons) with plenty of hiding spots among live rocks is ideal. It is a peaceful species that gets along well with most other non-aggressive marine fish.
